Kindness Jar

At the Mindful Explorers, we believe that nurturing positive connections and a supportive environment helps prevent bullying and builds a strong foundation of respect and empathy among students.

One simple yet effective way to encourage this is through a Kindness Jar. Here’s how it works:

Teachers can create a class Kindness Jar where children add notes celebrating acts of kindness they’ve experienced or witnessed. Alternatively, each child can bring in their own jar or container to decorate and personalise, making it even more meaningful. These jars become daily reminders that kindness counts and that everyone has the power to make a positive impact.

Why is this activity helpful?

Promotes Empathy and Connection: Children reflect on and recognise the kindness shown by others, fostering empathy and understanding, which are essential for a bully-free environment.

Builds Self-Esteem: When children see their own kind actions acknowledged, it boosts their self-confidence and reinforces positive behaviour.

Creates a Safe and Supportive Classroom Culture: Sharing acts of kindness helps build trust and community, creating a space where children feel safe, valued and less likely to engage in or become targets of bullying.

Encourage your students to share their moments of kindness and see the positive impact it has in your classroom. Let’s inspire children to spread kindness every day!
