Teaching about the Seasons
I believe strongly in teaching children about seasonal living and believe it is so valuable for young learners. Here are three big reasons why:
1️⃣ Building Environmental Awareness
Learning about the seasons helps kids connect with nature—seeing how plants, animals, and weather change. It’s a simple way to foster respect for the environment and encourage them to care for it.
2️⃣ Understanding Change
Watching the seasons shift teaches kids that change is a natural part of life. It helps them grasp the concept of time and shows them how to adapt to the world around them, building resilience along the way.
3️⃣ Sparking Curiosity and Wonder
Each season brings something new to explore! From growing plants in spring to watching leaves turn in autumn, it keeps learning fresh and exciting, encouraging kids to ask questions and dive into the world around them.
By teaching the seasons, we’re helping kids feel more connected, curious and mindful about the world. 🌍✨ For the rest of this week I'm going to be sharing some autumn themed resources and ideas to use in the classroom! Leave me an emoji to show me your favourite season!
